The U.S Travel Association and Las Vegas Convention and Visitors Authority have plans to promote tourism in Las Vegas.

Roger Dow, president of a Washington-based U.S Travel Association and one of Sin City’s biggest fans, gave some words of encouragement to Las Vegas’ tourism representatives.

Dow said, “No American is getting on a plane to go to Italy this year, I promise you that.”

He added, “They want to travel and they’re sure not going to go outside the U.S., at least for the short term. That will change in nine months or a year from now, but for the next six to nine months, they’re staying home.”

Dow, as well as others, believe that alternative opportunities will present themselves shortly given the global situation.

To help boost tourism the U.S. Travel Association moved the association’s top international travel trade show, IPW, from May 30 this year to May 10-14, 2021, in Las Vegas.

It is worth mentioning that the show was moved from its original location in Chicago after The City of Board Shoulders stepped aside to give Las Vegas hosting rights.

IPW a huge opportunity for Las Vegas

IPW is considered one of the top tourism trade show worldwide. Moving the show to Las Vegas will bring the industry’s top experts to the city.

“As we look to recover from this health emergency and the resulting economic crisis, we should be able to hold IPW in Las Vegas, a city that epitomises the economic power of travel and tourism,” said Dow.

Dow also continued to thank Chicago by saying, “We are deeply grateful to Chicago, which had one of the most successful IPWs in recent memory as a first-time host in 2014, for their flexibility, generosity and collaborative spirit.”

Red takeover rally

The Las Vegas Convention and Visitors Authority is sponsoring a rally planned to take place during National Travel and Tourism Week.

The “red-takeover” rally will take place between 7:30 p.m to 12:00 a.m and will include resorts and attractions from downtown to the Strip.

The rally is planned to pass by the “Welcome to Fabulous Las Vegas,” sign. As well, the High Roller and resort marquees will be lit in red.

Dow believes that “Rather than 400 or 500 or more demonstrations and parties and gatherings, it’s going to be much more subtle and much more about ourselves and really talking about the indomitable spirit this industry has and the need to get these people back to work.”
