A former security guard has been accused of purchasing bomb components and guns to kill people at a Las Vegas synagogue as well as plans to attack an LGBTQ bar. Magistrate Judge Nancy Koppe wrote in the defendants detention order,

“the defendant had gathered component parts that can readily be assembled into a destructive device,” Koppe said, and “had very specific plans about attacking one specific synagogue near his house,” including “wanting to light an incendiary device and having others join him to shoot people as they came out of the synagogue.”

Conor Climo will plead not guilty

Conor Climo the accused security guard will plead not guilty according to his court-appointed lawyer Paul Riddle. Climo was arrested last month and remains in federal custody pending arraignment this week on a charge of possessing “firearms, specifically destructive devices.” If convicted Climo can face up to 10 years in prison and might have to pay up to $250,000 in fines.

Climo was arrested after joint investigations from the FBI and the Terrorism Task Force. The Department of Justice press release mentions that

“law enforcement discovered Climo had been in contact with members of the National Socialist Movement, a white supremacist organisation. Climo was also linked to Atomwaffen Division, a neo-Nazi terrorist network.” Climo’s bid for release fro custody has been rejected by prosecutors and a U.S. magistrate judge. “The defendant is a member of the Feuerkrieg Division of Atomwaffen, which is known as an organisation that encourages, and may even commit, violent attacks on people of the Jewish religion, homosexuals, African Americans and federal infrastructures,” Magistrate Judge Nancy Koppe wrote in Climo’s detention order.

Who is Conor Climo?

A man who works as a security guard by day and quotes Adolf Hitler on online discussion platforms by night. During the investigation, it was discovered that he used Quora – a website where users post questions and answers on various topics- and his question was; “what are the downsides of multiculturalism?” “To quote a Nationalist,” he further wrote, “‘your most precious possession on this earth is your people!’” A quote from Adolf Hitler that is frequently used by extreme white supremacists. It is noteworthy to point out to the fact that Climo’s Quora profile picture was of AR-15-style rifle which resembles the gun he patrolled with back in 2016

In May 2019 an FBI informant was able to connect with Climo on an encrypted chatting platform. The informant mentions in a U.S attorney’s office statement that in his conversations with Climo he often “used “derogatory racial, anti-Semitic and homosexual slurs. He discussed attacking the synagogue, making improvised explosive devices and conducting surveillance on a bar he believed catered to the LGBTQ community.” If Climo is found guilty he can face up to 10 years in federal prison and fined $250,000.
