Prosecutors are filing a criminal complaint against a North Las Vegas doctor. The complaint was made by a former employee of Dr Michel Rantissi Jr. accusing him of sexual assault. The victim says that the doctor assaulted her while performing a technique called “pelvic floor therapy.” It has also been confirmed that the victim worked as a massage therapist at one of the three Therapy clinics owned by Rantissi.
The North Las Vegas Police says there could be more victims, while Rantissi claims to be innocent. The crime had been reported mid-September, three weeks before Rantissi was booked in the Las Vegas Detention Centre on one count of sexual assault and open and gross lewdness. The doctor told investigators that he helped the accuser and made her “feel better because she was single and he is a giver.”
According to the arrest reports, the victim is claiming that Rantissi sexually assaulted her and that it happened more than once at his office in North Las Vegas. Executive Director Julie Proctor talked about the difficulties of coming forward for women who’ve been victimized. Proctor says “I hope more women will come forward because usually if the police are saying that, there’s some fact to it. The police officers need to let them know that they believe them, that they were brave for coming forward that they support them.”
According to Police reports, Rantissi agreed to take a polygraph test
Rantissi is currently out on bail awaiting an appearance in court. He was supposed to show up and present himself in front of a judge October 8 but the judge decided to give prosecutors two more months to file criminal charges or drop criminal allegations against the doctor. Rantissi’s defence attorney, David Chesnoff, accused police on Tuesday of a rush to judgment ahead of Rantissi’s arrest last week on sexual assault and lewdness charges.
NLVPD believe that there may be other victims out there and are currently reaching out to employees, patients, and other possible victims of Rantissi. Other victims and anyone else with information regarding this case have been asked to call Detective Salkoff at (702) 633-1769.
