Six Las Vegas Casino, Gaming Companies Make the Forbes Best Employers List

  • Six Las Vegas casino and gaming companies are among the 25 to appear on Forbes’ list of best employers published on August 25.
  • Wynn Resorts came from a shaky past to top the list of the 25 Nevada companies.
  • Other companies on the list include The Cosmopolitan of Las Vegas, Las Vegas Sands, International Gaming Technology, Westgate Resorts, and Boyd Gaming Corporation.
  • IGT is the sole gaming company that made it to the list of the best employers in Nevada.

Five Las Vegas casino operators and one gaming company have made it to Forbes’ second annual America’s Best Employees by State list. The companies appeared in the 25 positions reserved for the Silver State.

The international media giant Forbes published the list on August 25.

Among the Las Vegas companies, Wynn Resorts is the highest-ranking, with an overall position of six out of the 25, followed by The Cosmopolitan of Las Vegas occupying the eighth position. Las Vegas Sands, International Gaming Technology (IGT), Westgate Resorts, and Boyd Gaming Corporation hold positions 14, 16, 22, and 24, respectively.

The Las Vegas Valley Water District occupied the top position for the state of Nevada, with Washoe County and United Parcel Service following.

Wynn Resorts beat its gaming industry competitors in the state on Forbes list despite having had some rickety years. The duo casino operator in Las Vegas was at the heart of a tempest when sexual allegations forced CEO and founder Steve Wynn to resign in February 2018.

As a result of the case, the Nevada Gaming Commission imposed a state-record fine of $20 million on Wynn in February the following year for not investigating workplace sexual harassment allegations properly.

This year, however, Wynn Resorts recovered by paying approximately $250 million-worth of wages, benefits, and tips to its 15,000 staff members at the peak of the coronavirus pandemic.

After making it to the Forbes list, Las Vegas Sands released a press statement, with CEO and Chairman Sheldon Adelson saying that their company had built a lasting reputation as an international hospitality and business leader. He said this was partly due to the dedication of their employees and leadership team.

It is not the first time for The Cosmopolitan of Las Vegas to claim a spot on lists of the best hotels in the world. Since the Strip hotel-casino opened in 2010, it has regularly made it to such lists.

Also featured on the list is Westgate Resorts, the owner of the Westgate Las Vegas Resort and Casino and the Westgate Flamingo Bay Resort in Las Vegas.

Another company on the Forbes list is Boyd Gaming Corporation, which owns and operates 10 hotels and casinos in Las Vegas and has around 25,000 employees.

IGT is the sole gaming company that Forbes included in its Nevada top employers list. The company is a global leader when it comes to producing slot machines and other gambling technology.

Forbes rates top employers based on workplace safety, opportunities for progression of careers, and salary competitiveness, among other factors.
